 Do not forget, book five, "Victory of Eagles" is being released today - yes, today! Hopefully you already got it by mail ... or you have to wait a few days more here in Europe for shipment. Little is yet known about the plot, but the synopsis from Amazon.com tells of the direction the story will be taking. Sounds exciting, too:
"It is a grim time for the dragon Temeraire. On the heels of his mission to Africa, seeking the cure for a deadly contagion, he has been removed from military service–and his captain, Will Laurence, has been condemned to death for treason.
For Britain, conditions are grimmer still: Napoleon’s resurgent forces have breached the Channel and successfully invaded English soil. Napoleon’s prime objective: the occupation of London.

There has been a little delay, but the first chapter of "Victory of Eagles" is now finally online, readable as a PDF-file and as HTML . This first chapter tells of Temeraire's lonely days at the British breeding grounds and of a sea battle with the French. And the anticipation heightens! Naomi Novik will also be touring for this book. The tour is limited to the US for the moment, so we Europeans will have to do without a reading. It looks like the first chapter of "Victory of Eagles" ist going to be published in a few days or so - at least that's what Naomi Novik wrote in her Live Journal. Much more interesting is her announcement of a new short story for an anthology from the famous editor Gardner Dozois about dragons, which will take place in the past of the Temeraire universe. Sounds very exciting, but sadly there were no further facts to be found about this anthology on the web.
